Church Divinity School of the Pacific : 2001 Seminar
Newsbrief
The faculty has continued to work on “changing the ethos of interaction within the CDSP community” in order to enhance teaching and learning at the seminary. Dean of Academic Affairs Arthur Holder writes, “A team of five faculty members has undertaken a review and analysis of current expectations of faculty in light of our understanding of our vocation as teachers. Participation in The Lexington Seminar has encouraged us to give special attention to issues of formation (both inside and outside the classroom) as part of our ongoing process of curriculum revision, and the Academic Committee of the Board of Trustees has been actively involved in this conversation. In light of several recent personnel changes in the seminary staff, we are now exploring ways in which a redefined role for a Dean of Students might serve as complement to the faculty’s work in the area of student formation. Finally, we are planning to engage a consultant to help the faculty address issues of time management as part of the implementation of new patterns of interaction with students and staff.” Holder will be moving his office across the street, effective July 1, in his new role as Dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Graduate Theological Union.
